So today I (Neil) had to go to Belfast to take a family member to an appointment. I knew it was going to be a while, so I headed into the city to spend time with Jesus and to get some ‘only child’ time – yes, that is a thing. I was reading about the Sermon on the Mount and how Jesus raised the bar on the law of Moses. If you are interested in reading more about that, I have a personal blog that I have been keeping for a number of years. As I was eating, drinking, and praying my way around Belfast, I was captivated by people and how God has created us. I spent around an hour sitting in the middle of the city, watching people interact with each other. From an older sister taking joy in playing with her young siblings, the scores of tourists taking photos, the wee man who kept striking up conversations with all the tourists, workers on their lunch breaks, and the guy practicing power-core moves on the green, I was amazed at the variety God has created. I was praying for those who were ill, those who were lonely, and those who needed purpose. Before all this, in the hospital, I had walked through the cancer center on the way to where we were going, and I was affected by how busy it was. The reality that each person sitting there had either received bad news, might receive bad news, or was waiting for someone who was going through their news was humbling. People are in such need of hope.
In the middle of my praying, I was joined by a friend who I used to work with. She works in Belfast a couple of days a week and was on her break, praying she would see someone she knew. She said she saw my fluorescent green laces a mile away and came over 😂. It was so good to see her, and bizarrely I saw her later on that evening up north when I was out for a run. Whenever this happens, I know God has something to do with it, so I will be praying for her and will send her anything I think God might have for her.
So this morning while Neil’s in Belfast, I (Janet) am starting my morning by reading my Bible and spending some time with Jesus at home. I’ve also picked up another book to read through. It’s ‘When Heaven Invades Earth’ by Bill Johnson. I’m not sure what I’m going to do after that, but I’m asking God, so we’ll see what He has in His heart for today. 😃❤️👍
I’ve started reading the book now; I’m only a couple of chapters in so far, but already this book is a great reminder of who we actually are as followers of Jesus, and therefore what our lives should really be like! I’m sure I’ve said this on here before, but I’m not great at learning from teaching-style books, so we’ll see how I go with this one 🤦🏻♀️ I’m hoping there might just be enough stories throughout it so I don’t get too lost 😃👍
PM…
This afternoon I went for a wee prayer walk into town ❤️ I know I’ve shared before that I believe the Lord has spoken specific things over where we live, and this is a fairly regular prayer walk for me. 🙌 So as I walked, I prayed for the Holy Spirit to come and do what only He can do, and that we would see the dreams of the Father fully realized here. 🙌❤️ I can’t wait to see that unfold. 🙌❤️🥳
