A day off?

Well, this morning we were both feeling a bit tired – I have a bit of a sore throat, Neil is fasting and he’s hungry! So as we prayed, we asked the Lord to really help us hear Him for what we should do today because we didn’t really trust ourselves to hear properly 🤦🏻‍♀️😬❤️

As we prayed and waited I (Janet) started to feel that we should take today off! Honestly I felt a bit embarrassed about that, and wondered if it was just me trying to make that what God was saying!! I didn’t trust it could be God inviting us into a day off and not just a thought in my head!  Anyway, I kept asking and waiting and the thought continued to grow, so I said it to Neil. We felt that we wouldn’t have questioned it if we’d felt invited to visit some other town to pray today? Anyway, I couldn’t get away from the feeling that God was saying He wanted us to enjoy a day off!

I said to the Lord that we’d be off over the weekend, and He said yes we would, but that was time for the 3 of us to be off together as a family, and He also wanted to give Neil & I time to be off just the 2 of us. I felt that there was something about the gift of time that God gave us last year that we’re meant to carry into this new season? I might be so wrong, but it felt like the Lord? I actually wonder if we’re meant to take a day off in the week every week? I thought it should maybe be a Friday, but we need to ask again, because Friday is our *fasting day which we don’t really want to do on a day off?? So we’ll ask more about that and try and hear what we should do!

*We believe that fasting is a Godly practice that we want to develop in our lives and so for the last few years we’ve fasted from dinner time on a Thursday evening until dinner time on a Friday evening. We then start our weekend with a dinner time feast affectionately known in our house as ‘Burger o’Clock’ 🥳 We know a lot of people who fast and absolutely love it – honestly, we love our food and so fasting is not an easy thing in our house 😂 BUT – it is something we hold dear and we just love Jesus way more than we love food and so we carry on trying to grow in this 👍

Anyway, we just really want to follow God into this whole adventure, and not miss out on anything!!

We’re learning!! This is all very exciting, but we also feel quite vulnerable trying to live like this! We trust God completely – He is utterly faithful and will never let us down! But sometimes we have a hard time trusting ourselves!!! We know that we can get things wrong, and so we want to stay humble, and have faith all at the same time!!

Today obedience feels like enjoying a day off, so that’s the plan

I only wish we’d taken a photo of our burgers!
