This morning we were chatting about what today might hold. I felt that we should do a podcast today so we chatted about what that could be. As we talked we said we wanted to be careful not to be wishy washy about Jesus in what we share on the videos. It would be so easy, in trying to make these accessible for people who don’t know Jesus, to actually make what we say watered down.
As we talked it through we wondered if it might be best to simply share the stuff we’re learning through following Jesus and then instead of trying to find an example for people to relate to who don’t follow Jesus, we just acknowledge that it might be strange for people to hear what we’re saying, but then leave it there!
Anyway, Neil then did his readings and this was the very thing he was reading about!!!! He was reading something by Bill Johnston and he was saying about not trying to either become like some Old Testament prophet who talks without the fullness of Jesus, and also not to try and be relevant for our cultures by becoming like them. We must remember that the gospel is meant to be offensive, in that it requires full surrender for us to follow Jesus! And He is the only way to life! It’s His blood that saves us – and that is the only way for us ALL to come into life ❤️
We found that super encouraging and majorly helpful from God just before we set into recording 🥳👍
Just before lunch Neil was writing a talk for church youth on Sun eve and I headed over to prayer walk around an area in our town (I thought it might be a God idea ❤️) As I prayed I felt like I could almost see the pavement in front of me running with a warm, yellow light, liquid gold ❤️ I prayed that that place would become known as a place of God’s presence and warm welcome – a friendly place ❤️❤️❤️ I prayed against unwelcome activity and intolerance as I walked passed some murals on a wall!!
And as I walked around to the Community Centre I prayed that if God wanted us to do some youth stuff in there that He would give us favour with the people we need it with and open up the doors for us to love that place well ❤️
