Slow News Day

If you had asked me (Neil) years ago what pioneering something is all about I would have thought it was all about the excitement, the newness, the anticipation of discovering the unexplored. I would have thought that it was just a constant life of new thing after new thing. We are, as you know, so new on this journey and whilst there have been moments like that and I expect there will be many more, what we are learning is that there are also days that are….well….pretty boring. I don’t necessarily mean they are boring for us but they are certainly boring for any of you to read about. Sorry! Today’s activity can be summed up in by the paragraph Janet has written below.

Today is all about the writing πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘Tomorrow we’re taking part in a leaders’ day at church πŸ˜ƒ So, while I was out meeting a friend for a cuppa, Neil was doing some writing for that, and popping some more entries in the blog for posting later! This afternoon I’m doing a bit of editing on those blog posts πŸ˜ƒ So a quiet, but productive kind of a wee day πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

It doesn’t sound overly inspiring right? It’s not the kind of stirring language that would cause you to get up off your seat, sell the farm, and go chase the dream. But what I’m learning is that it is as much a part of the adventure as the rest of it. It’s stuff that we need to do, it’s the preparation that is required in order to scale the next part of the mountain, it’s the formation part of the journey, it’s the engine checks that allow the car to run smoothly. So, we will embrace and enjoy them!

We thought it was as important to share days like this as much as it is to share the big travel days or the revelation moments – we don’t despise the day of small things!

Our dog is embracing the slow day πŸ˜‚
