We just wanted to take a wee minute and chat about how ‘Miracle Halls’ has been going these last couple of weeks 😃
If you are new to the blog and you don’t know what Miracle Halls is, then you can read all about it here.
Miracle Halls has been running now for 7 weeks, which is hard to believe! We have learned a lot over those 7 weeks and even though Miracle Halls is God’s idea, we believe that we are meant to partner with Him to discover the ways He would love it all to work. Sometimes God gives specifics on the details and sometimes He leaves it up to us, so we have been having lots of fun working out those details are we are adventuring on that journey together 😃
Our team is totally wonderful; we have at least 6 of us most weeks. Two ‘sign-posters’ who stand up at the top of the road with our lovely prayer invitation sign, two ‘welcomers’ at the door to greet anyone who comes in to the hall, and then at least two of our team in the hall ready to pray. The team move around those stations as needed; the goal is that we are flexible in how we operate to make it easy for the people we are trying to reach.
We pray every week that we would see many turn up, not so we would look good, but so that many would get to meet with Jesus. That is the whole reason we are there. Over the first few weeks, we realised again how hard it is for people to make the walk into the hall when there aren’t others doing it. To come in is a brave step. We remember this from doing things like this multiple times in the past but it was good to remember again that while it might feel like a risk for us to go out and do this, the risk for those who come to receive is even greater. The vulnerability it requires to ask for a miracle, to engage with someone you don’t know to talk about that need, and the faith to believe that maybe just maybe a miracle could be waiting, never mind what others might think of you, are all part of the trust journey.
What we have found is that on the street and at the door, we have been slowly building that trust. Many people we have talked with have spoken of how they love what we are doing, and they have expressed their desire to come down and receive prayer at some point, even though they haven’t made that journey just yet ❤️
That doesn’t mean we haven’t been praying for anyone though. Over the past couple of weeks, the sign-post team on the street has prayed and had big conversations with some individuals who are facing many challenges in their lives. One of the individuals was in the middle of a very tricky situation, and the prayer came at the perfect time for them. It was heartbreaking to hear this person’s story, but we know that we follow God, and nothing is too hard for Him!! So our team got to pray for God’s miraculous power to be shown in the person’s life and current circumstance – right there on the street as they waited in the rain for their bus to arrive. Another person has stopped for a chat now a few times where they have talked about their own ‘search’ for God and their thoughts on faith. ❤️ We also have had lots of other mini conversations with people in the community about their lives, families, and how cold our weather is 😂 It’s all a part of it right? We wish we could fully share their stories with you, but it is important that we protect what they have shared.
So while the floodgates haven’t exactly been thrown open in terms of people coming to the hall, we know that all of this is a part of ministering in any community. Our hearts in all of this are simply to show God that we love Him by being obedient to His leading and to show people that we love them by turning up and being available to serve where they live!
However, last week we did have a pretty cool marker moment ❤️
While the team were standing at the sign, a person drove past them and waved. One of our team knew them and their family. The person driving the vehicle then turned around and stopped to chat. As the team explained why we were there, this person opened up about needing prayer for their family, and so we invited them inside for prayer and a wee cuppa in the warm. The person thought this was a great idea! The team then had the opportunity to hear their story, lay hands on them and pray their best prayers – such a beautiful privilege.
We celebrate that someone came inside – not as a success moment, but as a marker moment of God breaking into the hearts of people around us! Success, we have already learned, is about obedience; but we love that where one has gone, many will come. And so we mark and celebrate that God is moving!!! We draw attention to the fact that we have now welcomed our very first person to Miracle Halls, not to point to us, but to point to the King and His extraordinary goodness, love, and power ❤️🥳🙌 We love that God is at work in this place, and it is a privilege to join in with Him! We can’t wait to see how things continue to open up as the Holy Spirit moves in the lives of the people around us ❤️
