Thankful

This is a week of feeling so thankful 😃 Firstly, Neil came home on Monday night 🥳🥳🥳 Obviously he’s travelled before, but there was something about this trip that just made him feel so far away!! I missed him LOADS! It was so so good to get him home again 😃😃 I’m so glad he got to go though, as he had such a great time with our friends and felt really encouraged coming home! It was a great trip and it was an exciting start to the autumn for him 🥳

Caleb and I finished off our wee week at home together with a little celebratory breakfast out before school 😃 Our family is very big on celebration! We think it’s always worth marking moments instead of just letting them pass by. We believe it’s a brilliant investment in our relationships with each other – and our favourite way to do that usually (always 😂) revolves around food 🥳🤩 But the celebrations didn’t stop there, because when Caleb got home from school that afternoon, he told us that he has been picked to be the male lead role in his school show this year 🥳🥳 So much fun!!!

Because Neil had just landed home on Monday night we decided that I wouldn’t go out on the early morning prayer walk on Tuesday morning 😴 So Tuesday morning after the bus run, Neil and I took the dog for a wee walk and had a great time catching up and chatting about stories from the week we’d been apart. Then Neil spent the day doing some work for a church gathering we’re heading over to England for next month, and I had some wee jobs that needed done around the house, so it was good to get those done.

Wednesday this week we started off going for another wee walk. We’re actually going to try and make this a wee habit most days….we’re loving the rhythm of a morning walk, and we’re finding that it’s a great time to talk through some things that are coming up, and about how we feel the Lord is leading us at the minute. We had an amazing, and super helpful, ‘resetting’ type of conversation on our Wednesday walk. I think Neil might write a wee post at some point about some things we learned as we chatted 👍 It was great!! Then in the afternoon we had Miracle Halls. We loved spending time with our team, and praying in the community. We didn’t get to pray with anyone specifically yesterday, but we did pray for people who we know are needing prayer right now so that was great. Wednesday evenings are pretty busy in our house as Caleb has football training, and then straight after that we host our small group for church in our house. It’s a little full on, but it’s working, and we love both things so we’re so happy to be able to do it all 😃

Today (Thursday) has been a great day again! We did our walk this morning (In my head it’s a tradition now 😂👍) It was so great, and really helpful. As I mentioned earlier, we’re heading over to England in a few weeks to speak at a church gathering weekend, so we spent our time talking through the sessions and how we feel they should go. It was so exciting to imagine the things that the Lord might want to do to encourage this church! When we got home, after spending some time with Jesus, Neil got stuck into some writing for that trip. He’s got a few writing things that he’s working on at the minute so I think he’s going to make Thursday his day for that. I love that for him – Neil loves a bit of rhythm to his weeks and so having this in his diary as a writing day works brilliantly for his personality! I’ve also been doing a little bit of writing, and praying, today. I’m speaking in our church in a couple of weeks’ time so I’ve been working on that – and I’m so thankful that I believe God is speaking to me about it 🙌❤️ I’m sure I’ll write more about this in other posts as the day I’m speaking gets closer!!

Weekends are getting fuller for our family at the minute with football matches and school play rehearsals, so Neil and I are thinking we might start putting a day in our week to be totally ‘off’. Actually, right at the beginning of theonehundredyearsproject, we thought God might be inviting us to do this but we never quite made it a proper thing, so we’re going to start by taking tomorrow as a day for just the 2 of us before the busyness of the weekend kicks in! And from next week on we will officially make sure we book in 1 day off during the week, every week! So that’s it for this week’s post….back next week for another wee update 😃👍
