Well here we are at the beginning of another new week in theonehundredyearsproject 😃 We had a full wee weekend! Among the normal family things that happen on Saturdays, Neil got to join up with some people from church to help out a friend who has been journeying through some painful loss recently. The small team spent the morning doing some jobs around the outside of the house. Nothing too major, but things that were too big for one person to handle alone. It is always a joy to stand together with people and love them in ways that mean the most in a moment. This felt like one of those times — trying to show love in a small practical way for our friend ❤️
After church on Sunday we’d been invited over to a lovely family’s house for lunch, so we spent a fab wee afternoon with them before my boys headed out to youth on Sunday evening! And while they were out, my friend and I took our two doggos for a walk, which was so good.
Yesterday morning I had the joy of starting the day by meeting up with a couple of my great friends — that always fills my heart 🥳❤️ Then Neil and I met up with a couple who have become really good friends of ours. We’ve been journeying together for quite a long time now, but I’d say we’ve become especially close over these last three years or so, particularly as we moved out of the last season of our lives and into this new one 😃 They’ve become so precious to us, and we try to spend proper time together every few weeks! They fill our hearts and always remind us to keep growing in our faith and keeping our eyes on Jesus in all things. What a great morning!
I can’t remember if I’ve shared this yet, but we’ve received a couple of cool invitations for this year. Two of them are later in the year and a little further away from home, but we’ve got one coming up in a couple of weeks in a town about half an hour from where we live! It’s from a couple we know through the church we used to lead, who have been walking more and more into wild adventures with Jesus in their hometown 😃 They have a coffee shop business, but they also feel it is a ministry, so they’ve been running coffee nights for the community and inviting different people to come and share what God has been doing in their lives. We bumped into these guys a month or so ago when we were out for dinner, and just before we left we popped over to their table to say cheerio. At that point they said that while they were having dinner they felt God prompting them to invite us to come and speak at one of their nights! I love how God speaks in so many different ways — including simply popping a wee idea into our heads while we’re out eating 😃😃
So this week Neil and I have been chatting about things we feel God is speaking to us about sharing — not only at this upcoming night, but also at the ones later in the year! We’re having fun asking God and hearing His lead in all of this!! Obviously Neil is the one doing the writing 😂 You know that even though I love the conversations around the talks, and love hearing from God about the ideas for them, I really do not love writing the actual teaching! But I’ve shared about that so many times on here that I’ll not go into all of that again just now 😂👍
Tomorrow we have Miracle Halls happening in the afternoon, and then Caleb has a football match in the evening. While my boys are at that, I’m going to a training night with church for small group leaders! Very exciting — we are launching small groups (our church are calling them Agape Groups) for the very first time, and they kick off over the next couple of weeks 🥳
The other fun thing that we think God might be inviting us into with theonehundredyearsproject is a once-a-week prayer walk around our town! Prayer walking has been an important part of what we do from the beginning (although we’ve definitely not been as good at it recently!!). So the other morning, when I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me about this, I was very excited!
As I’ve prayed a bit more about it, I think what I’m going to do is reach out to a few different people and see if they’d like to join us for these prayer walks. I’m thinking they’ll be early in the morning so they don’t clash with work and family schedules! Let’s give it a go and see what God has in His heart ❤️
I’ll write another wee post nearer the end of the week to fill you in on what happens over the next few days 😃
