This is just a wee post to share some exciting news of a completed assignment 🥳 Since the beginning of theonehundredyearsproject you have heard us talking about the fact that I (Neil) have been writing a book. Every step we take on theonehundredyearsproject is a step of obedience that we feel God is inviting us to take. And this was another obedience project that the Lord gave me back at the middle/end of 2024. Initially I thought it was a personal exercise to help me process some of the transition that we had walked through, but as we have prayed and listened, we realised that God had intended it to be about more than that.

We don’t have any idea of what God might want to do with it from here, but it feels really exciting to be able to finish what we felt Him asking us to do. And as of this week…

I never planned to write this book, or to live the story contained in it.

But after nearly two decades in church leadership, I found myself with something I had never expected: a year off.

It wasn’t a year I particularly wanted. There was no roadmap, no job description and, at times, no idea what came next. What it became was a year of rest, travel, family, provision, healing, and learning to listen for God’s voice in the middle of it all.

Slowly, I began to discover that the year wasn’t an interruption. It was a gift.

This is the story of a year that wasn’t on my radar, a journey that didn’t always make sense, and a God who was present throughout it all.
